Karl Kuenhold has been practicing law since 2008. He graduated from Claremont McKenna College with a BA in International Relations and Affairs, and later obtained his law degree from the University of Denver – Sturm College of Law. His law career began in the Office of the District Attorney in Pueblo, CO, where he tried over 60 cases, ranging from murder to sexual assault. After six years as a prosecutor, he began practicing in private practice in Pueblo for two years handling criminal defense, personal injury and worker’s compensation cases.  In 2017, yearning to return the San Luis Valley, he opened this firm in 2017. Attorney Karl Kuenhold is well known for his knowledge of law, his careful preparation, and his willingness to try even the most difficult cases.

O. John Kuenhold is of counsel to The Law Office of Karl Kuenhold. He received his law degree from the University of Michigan in 1969. He practiced law in the San Luis Valley from 1969 to 1981, when he was appointed to be District Judge in the 12th Judicial District. For 31 years he served as a District Judge and became Chief Judge and Water Judge for Water Division 3. Since his retirement in 2011, he continued to serve as a Senior Judge until 2018.  He has been actively engaged in mediating water cases across the state of Colorado since 2011. He is a member of Dividing the Waters, an educational association of western water judges and serves on their mediation panel.
 
He has been a member of the Colorado Supreme Court Water  Rules Committee since 2006 and is a frequent presenter at continuing education programs in water law sponsored by the Supreme Court Water Committee and Dividing the Waters through the National Judicial College. He served on the COSCA-NACM Joint Technology Committee for over fifteen years and was the creator of the Colorado Judicial website. 
 
He was a nominee to the Supreme Court of Colorado in 1995. He was recognized by the Colorado Judiciary as the Outstanding Judicial Officer in 2006 and received the Judicial Excellence Award from the Colorado Judicial Institute in 2011.
